Mud samples and algae

I'm currently trying to collect samples of mud from the shores of small farm
ponds and other small fresh water bodies. The purpose is to isolate certain
flagellate green algae to study sexual isolation processes. Those of you in
different parts of the country who might have access to such mud, could you
possibly send me an air-dried sample in an envelope from your neck of the
world? It only takes a few grams to isolate the algae I'm after.

Try to scoop out moist mud just around the shore of the pond in a cup and then
let it air-dry or dry out overnight in an incubator at 37 C. Crumble the
mud and send it in a letter indicating where you obtained the sample to:

Your help is greatly appreciated, as is your mud!
