We are puzzled by a molecular mystery:
We have screened cDNA library by hybridization. Two of the isolated clones
contained two ligated inserts which were ligated "head to head" . The
unexpected thing was that the cDNA sequences ligated to the gene screened were
very homologous to each other, but definitely not identical. They apparently
encode for two members of a gene family. It seems to us that the probability of
such a thing to happen is extremely small. Does any one have a good idea to
help us solve this mystery? (HOW TWO INDEPENDENT CLONES WERE FORMED BY LIGATION
BETWEEN ON TYPE OF cDNA AND TWO MEMBERS OF ANOTHER GENE FAMILY)
Thanks in advance
