The most recent report on cell cultures from schistosomes is probably the
one by Bayne et al. in J. Parasitol. 80: 29, 1994. Cells from primary
sporocysts were used to establish cultures that are said to survive for
several months. In the same paper you will also find a reference to an earlier
study by the same group, published in J. Parasitol. 79: 913, 1993. I am not
sure that these systems will give you the abundant and easy-to-get metaphases
you are looking for, but you'll be the judge. Just as a "historical"
curiosity, you may also look at the (not very encouraging) attempts by Weller
and co-workers to establish cultures from adult worms (published in
Am.J.Trop.Med.Hyg. 31: 335-, 1982).
