using Perl for linkage analysis

Perl programming language can be a very useful
tool for linkage analysis. Perl scripts are
relatively easy to write (no compiling is required).
Perl is similar in syntax with C and C-shell, so
easier for people familiar with these languages to
pick it up.

For automating your linkage job (e.g. genome-wide
analysis) and data format conversion, we consider
Perl much superior than other languages such as C.
We illustrate some use of Perl in ASHG99 as well as
the companion web page at:

        http://linkage.rockefeller.edu/soft/perl/

But we need more examples! This message is to solicit
your Perl scripts used in any tasks related to linkage
analysis. We believe sharing your Perl scripts with
other analysts is a win-win situation for all. Other
analysts may convert your script for his/her particular
need without reinventing the wheel. You also get feedback
from others to improve your scripts. Just send email
to us at

        perl at linkage.rockefeller.edu

and we will put it on the web page.
