I'm working at the National Plant Genetic Resources Unit/ Egypt. I have
started my M.Sc.program from 3 months ago about the characterization and
evaluation of some cucurbits growing under Egyptian conditions, using
morphological characters in addition to protein electrophoresis and isozyme
analyses. I have a big problem concerning the seeds collected by some people
two years ago whom don't know any thing about international rules of
collection which we call collection form or passport data.
By the way, the number of cucurbit collections are 45, 39 are melon and 6
are snake cucumber, collected from all over the country from farmers which
means that this collections couldn't be pure lines. Now, I want to know is
it right to apply the protein electrophoresis and isozyme analysis on these
seeds directly or I have to replant the seeds of each collection and then
choose 5 fruits from different plants randomly and apply the previous
techniques on their seeds. I hope every body get my message and thank you in
