BLOCK v0.2.0
LINKAGE AND PEDIGREE ANALYSIS IN LARGE
COMPLEX PEDIGREES
Version 0.2.0 of 'block' (pedigree and linkage analysis in large
complex pedigrees) is now available.
New in this version (IMPORTANT)
-------------------------------
IMPORTANT : If you use the programs in this package, you must install
this new version. If fixes two serious bugs. Both of them may cause
'block' to yield wrong results in many cases.
Apart from this, the option '-O' has been extended to accept more than
one number as input, much in the same way as the '-R' option.
Description
-----------
The program 'block' implements a method called blocking Gibbs
sampling. The method is based on the Markov chain Monte
Carlo method, Gibbs sampling, but combines this stochastic
method with exact local computations to get a method that
can successfully handle very large and complex (e.g., inbred)
pedigrees (thousands of individuals). The method allows the
user to test the presence of linkage between two genes.
As this is a relatively new program, there is bound to be errors
and other kinds of problems. All these should of course be reported
to me.

The program is available for the architectures : Linux ELF,
Sparc Solaris, IRIX 64, MS-DOS, and IBM RS/6000 AIX 3.2.5.
There is also a hopepage associated with the program at
