Hi,
I'm a new subscriber asking what is probably an old question. I am
in charge of deciding which unix box to buy for our lab. I'm leaning
towards an UltraSparc by Sun, but I'm concerned about being locked into
Solaris 2. How portable are the popular linkage packages to Solaris 2?
Also, how about architecture portability--do programmers muck with the bits
much in the popular packages? Write me back privately if this is not of
general interest.
Popular packages I'm referring to are programs such as LINKAGE and FASTLINK
as well as the new packages like GeneHunter, Haplotyper, etc.
