Dr. Chihara,
There is quite a bit of information about the link between familial ALS
and the SOD1 superoxide dismutase gene in the Online Mendelian Inheritance
in Man (OMIM) database, maintained as part of the Genome Data Base at
Johns Hopkins. If you have access to a World Wide Web client, such as NCSA
Mosaic, point it at the URL:
http://gdbwww.gdb.org/
If you have access to Gopher, point it at:
gopher.gdb.org
If e-mail is your only option, you may search OMIM using the GDB/OMIM e-mail
server. Send a message to mailserv at gdb.org with the single word "help" in
the BODY of the message (no subject line is required) to obtain additional
information.
As always, further information on GDB and OMIM may be obtained by sending
mail to GDB User Services at help at gdb.org.
