I got my distribution diskettes for MAPMAKER 3.0 for the PC yesterday.
Running on a year-old 486 with 8Mb RAM, MAPMAKER did a 2-point analysis
on my current dataset of ~60K comparisons in around 15 minutes. This
is only twice as long as it takes on our SPARC. Kudos to Steve Lincoln,
Eric Lander, and anybody else involved. I understand that MAPMAKER 3.0
is available for UNIX and DOS boxes by anonymous ftp from:

genome.wi.mit.edu in the /distribution/mapmaker directory.
