hi andrew,
i got my copy of linkage 5.2 yesterday (thank you ceph !), and it looks
pretty similar to v5.1 in operation. the install program is much better
now (i am using the pc version) and it create 5 sub-dirs for you the way
the unix/vms ones do. but, i refute the claim that it is easier to
alter defaults - instead one one 'genc.pas' there is now one for each
analysis program (mlink, ilink, etc) and there is no 'compile' batch file
so compiling is *more* difficult than before (yawn). maybe it says how
to do it in the accompanying doc-files, but they are all in postscript
format so i cannot print them...
until i can recompile them for my own problems, then i cannot comment
on other things such as speed, etc.

awful that a life can be shattered for such a small amount. It wouldn't
be so bad if these people took a reasonable amount - say forty or fifty
