There is an opening for a Postdoctoral/Research associate at Brown
University. The details are below. Please contact Kristi Wharton
(Kristi_Wharton from brown.edu) if you are interested.
Postdoctoral Fellow, Brown University, MCB Department, Providence, RI
A postdoctoral/research associate position is available immediately in
the Wharton lab at Brown University. This position is to study the
functional consequences of the Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva
(FOP) mutation during Drosophila development. FOP is a disabling, lethal
syndrome associated with a single point mutation in ACVR1 (ALK2), a BMP
type I receptor, that results in the progressive deposition of
heterotopic bone, similar to endochondral ossification during
development. We intend to use the Drosophila system where the
developmental roles of BMP signaling have been well studied and the
molecular underpinnings of ligand-receptor interaction are currently
under intense investigation, to gain insight into the molecular
consequences of FOP. This position is funded by the Center for Research
in Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva. Preference will be given to
candidates with strong molecular biology and cell biology experience.
Applicants should send a letter describing their previous research
experience, their CV and list of reference names to Kristi Wharton
(Kristi_Wharton from brown.edu).
