A postdoctoral position is available in Paul Adler's lab at the University
of Virginia to study the genetics and cell biology of planar polarity
(primarily in the Drosophila wing) or the morphogensis of polarized cells
such as bristles or arista laterals. The position is funded by
an NIH grant. For a recent review of issues we are interested in see Adler
(2002)Dev Cell 2:525. Examples of recent research papers are Lee and Adler
2002 (Genetics 160:1535), Fei et al., 2002 (J. Cell Sci 115:3797), Cong et
al., 2001 (Development 128:2793). Experience in basic molecular biology
techniques required. Experience in Drosophila genetics, development and/or
confocal microscopy helpful.
The University of Virginia is one of the premier public universities in the
US. It is located in Charlottesville- a pleasant unviersity town (about
120,000 people) about 2 hrs south of Washington DC.
