A NIH-funded position is available to carry out functional analyses
of cis-regulatory sequence evolution in Drosophila. The work will
involve phylogenetic analysis of enhancer sequences controlling
pair-rule gene expression in embryogenesis, and transgene analysis of
evolved differences in these sequences. The general goal of the work
will be to understand the evolution of enhancer structure/function.
Bachelor's degree required and experience with Drosophila molecular
biology a necessity. Contact: Martin Kreitman
(mkre at midway.uchicago.edu) or Michael Ludwig
(mludwig at midway.uchicago), Department of Ecology and Evolution,
University of Chicago.
