international research team investigating evolutionary variation in
thermal tolerance and heat-shock protein expression among and within
natural populations of Drosophila in Israel. This is a
multidisciplinary investigation including field (dye-marking and
recapture studies of wild Drosophila, measurements of larval
microclimates) and laboratory (quantitative Hsp measurements by ELISA,
thermotolerance determinations, PCR, sequencing, QTL mapping, gel-shift
assays) components, and supported by a 3-year grant from the Binational
Science Foundation of Israel and USA. The ideal candidate will have
expertise in as many of the above techniques as possible, be willing to
learn the remainder, and be fluent in English. Research will be

University of Haifa, Israel), Martin Feder (University of Chicago, USA),
and in "Evolution Canyon" (Lower Nahal Orem, Israel) with Korol, Feder,
and Jerry Coyne (University of Chicago, USA). The postdoctoral fellow
