Postdoctoral Positions

	Two postdoctoral positions, and a technician position, are
available immediately for NIH-funded studies of genes affecting tubule
structure and related to polycystic kidney disease in C. elegans (see
brief description at: http://www.cc.ukans.edu/~micro/buechner or our
recent paper in Dev. Biol. v.214, pp.227-241, '99).  Experience in
molecular biological techniques is essential.
	For the postdoctoral positions, a Ph.D. in microbiology or
molecular, cell, or developmental biology, or related field is required,
as is extensive experience in molecular biological techniques, good
organizational and communication skills, publication of previous work, and
support from the applicant's current adviser.  Applicants with extensive
genetic experience with a model developmental biological organism,
(especially flies or worms), are preferred.  Application materials include
a curriculum vitae and three letters of references.
	For the technician position, a bachelor's degree in molecular
biology or related field is required, along with experience in molecular
biological techniques, and good organizational, written, and verbal
communication skills.  A master's degree and previous experience in a
research laboratory is preferred.  Application materials include a

	Lawrence is a charming and historic town (pop. 80,000) located in
rolling hills about 40 miles west of Kansas City.  There are plenty of
hiking and fishing areas nearby, as well as art museums, restaurants,
bookstores, and theater and sports events in town.  KU is a large research
university, with several fly labs and a growing worm community in this
department.
