The Center for Conservation Research & Training at the University
of  Hawaii  is seeking a full-time Assistant Researcher (Position
No.   086172T;  non-tenurial)  to  apply   developmental  biology
approaches  to  the  understanding of  sexual  behavior  and  the
evolution of morphological diversity in Hawaiian Drosophila.  The
project  is  funded  by ERATO in Japan and  will  extend  through
September 30, 1999. The successful candidate will be expected  to
design, perform and evaluate various experiments in collaboration
with  a  team  of researchers investigating behavioral  genes  to
elucidate  the  molecular basis of sexual  selection.  Applicants
must  have a doctorate in the field of developmental biology with
background in internal morphology of Drosophila.  Candidate  must
also   have   skills   in  histological  techniques   and   other
technologies  required to conduct developmental biology  research
on insects.  It is also desirable that applicants have background
in  molecular  biology and are computer literate  in  regards  to
statistical analysis. Minimum annual salary is $40,524. A  letter
