FlyBase update.

Several new files have been put on the FlyBase server,
flybase.bio.indiana.edu, and are available by gopher, ftp, or via the
FlyBase WWW server (http://morgan.harvard.edu/).

Reference Manual. There is a new edition of the Reference Manual in the
directory flybase/docs/. Available in text form or as postscript files
for 1 or 2-sided printing (Reference-manual.text, Reference-manual.ps1
and Reference-manual.ps2).

Gene function and synonym tables. New versions of the tables of gene
function (flybase/function/function.txt) and of gene and allele
synonyms (flybase/genes/synonyms.txt) are available.

Nomenclature. The latest version of the Drosophila nomenclature guide is
available in text or postcript form (flybase/nomenclature/nomenclature.text
and flybase/nomenclature/nomenclature.ps).

Also available in the directory flybase/nomenclature are lists of the
abbreviations used for gene symbols of species other than Drosophila
melanogaster (flybase/nomenclature/species-abbreviations.txt) and a list
of non-drosophilid genes regarded by FlyBase as 'honorary' genes:

Controlled vocabulary. A revised list of the terms used by FlyBase as
a controlled vocabulary - flybase/docs/controlled-vocabularies.txt. This
includes an extensive list of the anatomy of Drosophila which may be
of particular interest to other people building Drosophila databases.

External database links. This file, which was previously called
flybase/seqs/sequences.txt, is a list of the cross-references
between FlyBase and other databases, in particular those of nucleic
acid and protein sequence, enzymes and protein motifs

Errors in Ashburner's Greybook and Lindsley and Zimm.
flybase/docs/greybook-errors.txt is a list of the known errors (166) in
Ashburner's Greybook. flybase/docs/redbook-errors.txt is a list of the
known errors (1469) in Lindsley and Zimm (1992). Note this is NOT an
update of Lindsley and Zimm.
