   - Scientific illustration versus photography.

    - Drawing basics: Halftone rendering, textures, transparency= object
   shadows, reflected light and cast shadows.
   - Drawing tools an= d media:
     * Line and ink: Basic techniques, rendering styles, scrat= chboard.
     * Pencil: Basic techniques, coloured pencils, watercoloured =
       pencils, examples.
     * Water colour.
     * Camera lucida (procedure a= nd practical examples).
   - Graphite rendering.
   - Field ske= tching (naturalistic illustration).
   - Introduct= ion to computer graphics.
   - Bitmap graphics software: Main tools, lay= er workflow.
   - Chromatic diagrams, bit depth, colour models and chann= els, image
   - Vectorial vs. bitmap drawing.
   - Vecto= rial graphics software: Bezier-curve drawing, pattern
   filling, examples.
   - Examples and subjects of scientific illustration.
     * Illustra= ting plants, animals and geological features.
