One useful information in this regard is that adding inhibitors of
mammalian lysosomal enzymes such as cathepsin, reduces protein
degradation of crude worm cell extracts. e.g. Addition of Leupeptin
and Pepstatin helps in the stability of worm microtubule proteins
(Siddiqi et al J. Neurosci. 9, 2963-2972, 1989.
