   Dear Colleagues,

There ar= e some places still available for the workshop MULTIVARIATE
DATA ANALY= SIS FOR ECOLOGY AND EVOLUTION IN R.

   Date: Ja= nuary 18-22, 2016.

   Course webpage: http://www=
   .transmittingscience.org/courses/stats/multi-ecol-evol-in-r/

   =

Instructors: Dr. Dean Adams((Iowa State University, USA) and Dr.=
Antigoni Kaliontzopoulou (Centro de Investigação em Biodive= rsidade e
   Recursos Genéticos (CIBIO), Portugal).
   <= /div>

This course is directed towards PhD students and research= ers
interested in exploring the potential of R language for multivariate
an= alyses in ecology and evolution. The course will provide a general
presenta= tion of major statistical tools for multivariate analyses,
including explor= atory methods, multivariate GLM, methods for
controlling for evolutionary a= nd ecological non-independence, model
   selection and analysis of dispersion.=

The course will include a morning and an afternoon session. During t=
he morning session, the instructors will discuss major themes in
ecology an= d evolution and associate them to the statistical tools
available for explo= ring specific scientific questions. The afternoon
session will begin with a= short (1h) demonstration of R code based on
a worked, biological example a= nd followed by practical training by
the participants. At the end of the co= urse, participants will each
give a presentation on their research system, = potentially including
some analyses carried out during the course, or ideas= of how they
might incorporate the knowledge acquired during the course to = their
   research.

This course will be held in the Sabadell f= acilities of the Institut
Català de Paleontologia (Barcelona, Spain) a= nd is co-organized by
Transmitting Science and the Institut Catalá de = Paleontologia M.
Crusafont. Place are limited and will be covered by strict=
   registration order.

   With best regards
