The National Center for Genome Resources and the Samuel Roberts Noble
Foundation are pleased to announce the release of new EST data from
collaboration on Medicago truncatula. 14,634 expressed sequence tags
were deposited in GenBank last week, and a newly accessible web site
offers access to the sequences and some basic annotation results.
Scientists from NCGR and Noble are working together to identify novel
expressed gene sequences; the data release is the first in a series
expected over the next 18 months. The M. truncatula research community,
including National Science Foundation projects and international groups
such as those in France, will continue to contribute to the overall
genomic research of the plant, making it a stronger model system.
Details about the M. truncatula project are available at
and www.noble.org/medicago/ and access to the database is through
Feedback is welcome.
