ICDD Crystallography Scholarship Recipients for 2000 are Announced
The International Centre for Diffraction Data Crystallography
Scholarship Committee has selected five winners for the 2000 Scholarship
program. They are: Maxim V. Lobanov, Moscow State University, Moscow,
Russia; Chen Yi, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, Peoples Republic
of China; Michelle Anne Dunstone, St. Vincent's Institute of Medical
Research, Victoria, Australia; James Lettieri, The Pennsylvania State
University, University Park, Pennsylvania; and Heather M. Volz,
University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin.
Maxim V. Lobanov will investigate "Structural Studies of Colossal
Magnetoresistant Manganese Oxides." Chen Yi's studies focus on
"Synthesis, Structure and Magnetic Properties of Rare Earth-Transition
Metals-Borides." Michelle Anne Dunstone's thesis research concerns
"Structural Studies of Human Blood Proteins." The exploration of
"Ferroeletric Anisotropy and Integration of SrBi2Ta2O9" will be
conducted by James Lettieri. Heather M. Volz's research involves "A
Triple-axis Diffraction Investigation into Defects in Crystallized Hen
Egg White Lysozyne."
ICDD will present each of these students with a $2,250 check to continue
