The Virtual School of Molecular Sciences at the University of
Nottingham, UK is pleased to offer a new virtual course taught over
the internet using WebCT : STRUCTURE BASED DRUG-DESIGN.
Structure-Based Drug Design is the strategy of using protein
for the creation of new active compounds. It brings together many
disciplines such as protein sequences and structure, organic and
physical chemistry, biochemistry, and computing. Students will be
shown how to use the biological and chemical resources on the WWW and
introduced to modern drug design software.
ESSENTIAL FACTS ABOUT THE COURSE
1) It carries the award of a Certificate at postgraduate level, and
can be extended to a Diploma by a virtual research project.
2) It has been developed in collaboration with major pharmaceutical
companies who are contributing the content and much of the strategy
3) It is self-paced, either at home or at work, and can be taken over
1 or 2 years. Assessment is through submitted work rather than exams
4) It is available anywhere in the world. You will need access to a
science-based library and a UNIX machine running molecular modelling
5)The fees are 3000 GBP.
