INDUSTRIAL BIOCHEMISTRY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY GROUP MEETING

                              BIOTRANSFORMATIONS
                              ==================

A MEETING AIMED AT YOUNGER RESEARCHERS

School of NES, Coventry University, UK, 13-14 September 1995

BOOKING FORM AND CALL FOR PAPERS

This is designed as an economical meeting affordable by research
students and other younger scientists. It will give the opportunity
to exchange recent findings and meet others interested in the field.
Participation is open to all, but in the selection of speakers,
preference will be given to younger and less experienced researchers.

"Biotransformations" will be broadly defined to cover the use of
biological catalysts (enzymes and whole cells) to bring about desired
chemical conversions, and all supporting aspects of science and
engineering.

The meeting is likely to be co-sponsored by the relevant subject
groups of The Biochemical Society, The Institution of Chemical
Engineers, The Royal Society of Chemistry, the Society for General
Microbiology, and The Society of Chemical industry. Members of any of
these societies may be eligible for financial support towards the cost
of participation - see below.

Abstracts (about 200 words) of papers for presentation at the meeting
should be sent by 3 July to: Dr J Heptinstall (Biotransformation
Meeting), School of NES, Coventry University, Priory Street, Coventry
CV1 5FB, UK. The presenting author should identify themselves, and
indicate their position and number of years since completing a Ph.D
(where applicable). Papers will be selected for either oral or poster
presentation, and the presenting author will be informed by 1 August.
The meeting will include workshop sessions in smaller groups, and
plenty of time for informal discussion. You are invited to suggest
topics for the workshops: methodologies are often particularly good
here.

The meeting will start at 11.00 on Wednesday 13 September 1995, and
finish at 17.00 on Thursday 14 September. To register and book,
participants should send the form and fee to Dr J Heptinstall (as
above) by the same date, 3 July. Accommodation is limited, so book
early to avoid disappointment! Meals and accommodation will not be
reserved until the fee is paid.

Assistance for society members may be available:

Biochemical Society: Members under 30 years old may apply to Alan
Bunch, The Biological Laboratory, University of Kent, Canterbury CT2
7NJ.

Institution of Chemical Engineers: Student and young members may
apply to Dr Ian Reed, Building 353, Harwell Laboratory, Oxon OX11 ORA.

Royal Society of Chemistry: Members who are students or post-docs may
apply to Peter Halling, Department of Bioscience & Biotechnology,
University of Strathclyde, Glasgow G1 1XW.

Society for General Microbiology: Members may apply individually to
the Society's President's Fund -SGM, Marlborough House, Basingstoke
