Hi,

commercial enterprises like twitter and facebook present severe privacy 
issues, I have so far steered well clear of them. 

Part of the discussions that once happened on usenet are now on 
http://researchgate.net/ or http://stackexchange.com/. But I'd miss 
usenet, if it were to become defunct.
