pathways. In addition, you will provide strategies for pre-clinical testing
of proprietary drugs using in vitro assays. You will be responsible for the
development of functional assays and testing of drugs with emphasis on
efficacy, toxicity and drug metabolism. Candidates for this position may be
appointed as Scientist, Senior Scientist or Manager depending on experiences
and qualifications. Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience is
preferable. Qualifications: Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline, strong
communication skills, supervisory experiences or demonstrated potential, and
demonstrated ability to work independently. Must have solid organizational
skills. Must have experiences with drug screening assays or in vitro enzyme
activity assays. Experiences in two (2) or more of the following areas is
also required: retinoic acid or retinoids, vitamin D or calcitriol, ADME,
drug discovery in dermatology, skin cell biology (especially cell
differentiation, proliferation or apoptosis)
Technology Development Leaders
Candidates for these positions may be appointed as Scientists, Senior
Scientists or Managers depending on experiences and qualifications. Must
have a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline, strong communication skills,
supervisory experiences or demonstrated potential, and demonstrated ability
to work independently. Must have the ability to interact constructively
within a team environment and solid organizational skills. Must have
demonstrated expertise and a desire to continuously seek, implement and
optimize leading edge technologies in one or more of the following
disciplines: Molecular biology, Cell biology, In vitro drug screening assays
Scientists
They have a continuum of research efforts which require Scientists to
participate in Project Teams. Two representative opportunities are
summarized as follows:
You will participate in the development of novel therapeutics in dermatology
or oncology with particular emphasis on vitamin D and vitamin A metabolic
pathways. This may include pre-clinical testing of proprietary drugs using
in vitro assays and the development of functional assays OR you will clone,
express and characterize novel molecular targets. You will play a critical
role in the development of imaging assays for detection of molecular targets
in human tissues as well as animal disease models. You will manage external
collaborations to ensure access to tissue banks. Qualifications: Ph.D. with
0-5 years of post-graduate experience in two (2) or more of the following:
basic biology of tumors and molecular pathways controlling cell growth, cell
division and tumorigenesis, animal models of cancer, gene cloning, insect
and mammalian expression systems (transient and stable), RT-PCR, Northern
blot analysis, in-situ hybridization or immunochemistry , tissue culture
techniques, cell based assays, cell proliferation, differentiation or
apoptosis, immunology and antibody production, enzymology: biochemical
characterization of enzyme activity, HPLC or MS techniques
Must have the ability to interact constructively within a team environment
with strong computer and organizational skills. Experience in the
pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry and previous supervisory
experiences are assets.
Research Technicians and Research Associates
Candidates for these positions may be appointed as Research Technicians
(B.Sc.) or Research Associates (B.Sc. with 2 years related experience or
M.Sc.). You will be responsible for mastering fields of technical expertise
to support Project and Technology Development teams. Qualifications:
Demonstrated potential to work in teams. Strong organizational skills and
attention to detail. Previous experiences with one or more of the following
fields or technologies:
gene cloning, insect and mammalian expression systems (transient and
stable), RT-PCR, Northern blot analysis, in-situ hybridization or
immunochemistry
protein expression tissue culture techniques, cell based assays, cell
proliferation, differentiation or apoptosis, biochemical characterization of
enzyme activity, immunology and antibody production, enzymology: biochemical
characterization of enzyme activity, HPLC or MS, Experience in the
pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is an asset.
Salary is negotiable. They pay full relocation costs and may provide an
allowance for travel and accomodations during the transition. The positions
