Hi,
Recently I ran across references to a part of the brain temred a sleep
center. This purportedly controls and necessitates the need for
sleep. Apparently if it was destroyed, then an individual would no
longer be able to sleep at all, however, as he lacked the center, would
not in any way suffer from this. I am reasonably certain that the
source of this is simply telling the proverbial tall tale. Still, I
feel bound to ask the following questions; is there such a center?
where is it located, if it exists? are their documented cases of
individuals losing theirs without harm? and is it possible to get it
surgically removed?
If anybody could answer these questions, or direct me to a site, or
text, where I could find answers, I would be grateful. Thanks all.
James
