Just relax, kid!! I'm talking as a permnent postoc. But, to differ from you,
I entered science because I was really interested in the hows and the whys
of things. Everything depends on motivation. I am still a postdoc, and I
still enjoy it, because it gives me freedom to pursue whatever I want. And
I am going to turn 35 two years from now, BUT, isn't it better to do whatever
you like, AND get paid for it, rather than some idealistic crap???
I don't know. I mean, princess diana is supposed to have done good, right? I
wonder how much of her real GOODNESS would have come to light if she were
really happily married??? My point being, that what she did was NOT what
came out of her heart, but a diversion for her own unhappiness (call it
sublimation, if you will).
So. I would not try and help mankind. That's too heavy a burden. Just be good
at whatever you do, and that's good enough.
Cheers,
