Hi I am a student at the university of maine in Orono. I have in the
past 5 months been trying to set up a tropical aquarium. Despite my
best efforts my fish continue to die due to Ichthyophthirius
multifiliis other wise known as ick or white spots that fish acquire.
After my first few attempts to clear up the problem by removing the
water and refilling the tank with fresh water and using store bought
medications my fish still seem to come down with this disease. I have
found some information on the internet that suggests that this organism
is a protozoa. If anyone has any information as to what might help
Please get back to me
Thank you for your time,
Andrew Thomits

P.S. i have attached a chart of the life cycle of ick just in case it
might be helpful.
