Lane
	I broke my collar bone in my first (and last!) attempt to drive a motorcycle.  There were actually two breaks in mine, and I was also put in the shoulder harness.  I was home on vacation from graduate school, and had to stay there for a month.  By the end of that month, though, I was basically functional.  Your son should be fine by the time school starts.  Give him my sympathy - these first few days are pretty painful!
