Seems to me that what the Center for Science in the Public Interest did was to
pop some popular myths by measuing the caloric and fat content of food. What
you chooce to do about it is your own business. That's hardly condtrol.
Instead, the Center provides information so those who don't want to eat all
that lard and salt can make wiser choices about their diet. I don't recall
the CSPI trying to get a ban on Jiffy Pop, tacos, or chow mein.

Likewise, tobacco is dangerous-- the fact that it is legal has to do with a
strong lobby, and not any inherent benefit or harmlessness of the drug. When
crack dealers can put up billboards advertising their rocks, then I'll be all
for tobacco companies having the same benefits. I don't care if people smoke
themselves to death with either drug-- but I do appreciate those who make the
risks and benefits of the drugs known.

The left is not out for control nearly as much as the right, which wants to
regular women's bodies, people's sexuality and gender expression, and barbecue
people for any infraction (once they, of course, make sure that they're born).

I was really stumped about the right's obsession with gun laws-- the right is
against gun control, a big deviation for them. Then I realized that's because
they want lots of guns to control people with.

Politics is simple, actually.
