Hello there;
I'm in Hawaii now, and I admit that thee are not a lot of
ducks or
geese overe here. So I was wondering if anybody had ever heard of
this. Couled it really be true or is it just an urban ledgend?
My friend told me about tying a piece of bacon lard or fat onto a
piece of fishing string, and casting the "bait" out into a duck pond.
He said in a couple of minutes several geese had found the piece of
bacon and one of them had eaten it. Well next he said that there is
something about bacon grease that doesn't sit well with geese and the
first one had already passed the bacon chunk through it's system in
less than one minute and a second goose ate the stuff. Pretty soon
the second one shit out the bacon fat and low and behold, a third one
ate the fat. Well my friend tells me that three geese on one line was
the record he had ever "caught". It's kinda like fishing for geese.
Another friend told me a similar story about ducks. He claims he had
two ducks on a fishing line and then you yank the pole back and they
try flying around, but cause they are on the line in such a manner,
they fly beak to butt in a haphazard fashion.
I'm pretty dump when it comes to this kind of stuff. Has
anyone else
heard about fishing for ducks or geese in this manner? I am thinking
about going to the Honolulu Zoo to do a little research. This could
be more fun than cow tipping.
Thanks in advance for your help at alt.duck.quack.....
