Just this morning on the radio-news:
A gene among whites (?!) has been found which provides a certain
immunity to AIDS. Almost completely immune if the gene was present
in both parents; otherwise, the illness proceeds much slower.
Does anyone have some more information on this? E.g. where it
was published? And what are the ethical consequences? Already
AIDS tests are being performed in sometimes dubious contexts,
so what if it is (going to be) easy to check for the presence
or absence of this gene?!
