MICROBIOLOGY FOR THE HEALTH SCIENCES

Course Description:
This course is directed to allied health care professionals, health care
education and students interested in miccroorganisms and human disease.
The structure and function of bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses will
be considered with an emphasis on virulence properties of the
microorganisms and host defence mechanisms. Antimicrobial agents and
antimicrobial resistance patterns will be examined at the molecular level.
This course is designed as a distance education offering utilizing the
interactinve multimedia 'Miicrobes in Motion' CDROM as 'text'.
