The reality of life for infertile couples (at least in Australia) is
that for the last ten years it has been virtually impossible to adopt.
For a while people were adopting from places like Sri Lanka and Korea,
but this turned into an exploitative racket verging on slavery. Manyt
of the kids that were adopted turned out to be the rejects of their own
culture (Downs syndrome, cerebral palsy victims etc) and the problems
of cultural adapatation and identity were profound.

For most infertile couples the choices are childessness or some form of
reproductive technology. If they do choose technology then they
shouldn't be made to feel guitly about it. Society puts many
constraints on infertiles that it doesn't impose on the fertile: age
restrictions, limitations on single-sex families, cost constraints,
access to information a nd services etc.

For every complex problem there's a simple solution. And it's wrong!
