Freezing of Humans

I recently heard about the prehistoric man they found frozen in ice. From the
pictures I saw he looked quite mumified. Can someone give me an idea of what
sort of condition he was in? Was the body dehydrated? I'm curious about the
time scales that on which such a frozen body would decay. What changes would a
body go through in 100 years, 500 years, 1000 years, ect.? How would melting
and refreezing affect things? Speculation is acceptable though some emperical
results would be useful. This is for research for a book.
