FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
7th Nordic Symposium on Computer Simulation
September 3 - 5, 1993
Espoo, Finland
SCOPE
This symposium continues the series of meetings rotating in the Nordic
countries. It focuses on computer simulation methods and techniques
(such as the Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics) and their applications
in physical, chemical and biological sciences.
We welcome participants from all countries.
PROGRAM
The program will consist of both invited and contributed talks, and there
will ample time for poster sessions and demonstrations.
Among the topics of interest in the 1993 symposium are
o membranes and amphifilic aggregates
o materials simulations
o solvation phenomena
o protein folding and conformations
o complex phenomena
o clusters
o algorithms and visualisation
The tentative list of invited speakers includes
H. Berendsen (Groningen),
M. Klein (Philadelphia),
H. Konschin (Helsinki),
J. Krug (Yorktown Heights),
G. Skolnick (La Jolla),
M. Neumann (Vienna),
D. Landau (Athens, USA), and
J-P. Hansen (Lyon).
LOCATION
The symposium will be held at the Center for Scientific Computing (CSC)
in Otaniemi, the campus of Helsinki University of Technology, eight
kilometers from downtown Helsinki. Accommodation will be in nearby,
reasonably priced hotels.
PARTICIPATION
Those interested in receiving further information are requested to fill
in the enclosed preliminary registration form. We also invite submissions
for contributed talks and posters.
TIMETABLE
The second circular will be mailed in February 1993, containing the final
registration and accommodation reservation forms, instructions for writing
abstracts, the program outline, and travel instructions.
The deadline for applications and abstracts is June 1, 1993.
The final circular will be mailed in July, 1993.
