I am in need of a documented procedure for gravimetric measurement of lung
water (using dog lungs). I don't need to specifically measure the absolute
volume of lung water, just the relative change between controls and
experimentals. One burning question we have is: should we allow the lungs to
passively exsanguinate or clamp the hilar vessels to retain the blood? Would
the drainage of blood from the lungs carryout some of the extravascular lung
water? Expert opinions greatly appreciated.
