There are a number of mail-news gateways, the only one I remember at the moment
is *.usenet at decwrl.dec.com (replace the wildcard with any newsgroup name).

Personally, I have this group mailed to my home, because this is not directly
related to my work, although I would like to do bioinformatics work again
someday. So a limited mailing fits my needs. For more serious users, well,
Gopher is great, but it really isn't an elegant way to read news. If you're
going to run a client anyway, why not just set up an NNTP client and read
news off a friendly system? That way you don't have to dedicate all that
space to news spool directories or do a lot of maintenance, and you can read
and post news seamlessly.
