I have received the following proposal for a new newsgroup and am
putting it out to vote. For the purposes of the vote we can refer to
the newsgroup as bionet.tropical as suggested but the name will
probably be slightly modified if approved. Please read the following
proposal and then, if you would like to particpate in such a
newsgroup, send a message containing the line
YES ON TROPICAL
to one of the following addresses (whichever is most convenient for
you):

PROPOSAL FOR A NEW BIOSCI GROUP
I propose a vote for establishing a new BIOSCI
group for tropical biology (bionet.tropical).
The newsgroup would be for information channel on tropical
biology matters including e.g. announcements on meetings,
courses, recent advances on the field and discussion.
The intensifying world-wide cowork between biologists interested
in tropical biology is the basis for the need for a special group
in BIOSCI for tropical biology.
