The people who usually need to take action to resolve these problems
are the systems managers, not the end user, and if the end user has
been removed from the list they, of course, will not see such a list.
It is also highly unlikely that the system managers are reading
biological newsgroups in many cases. We often send messages to the
standard postmaster at xxx.yyy.zzz address to try and straighten things
out (although not universally followed, many machines do have a
"postmaster" address which the systems people use for mail problems).
However, we do not have the resources to keep after subscriptions the
way a magazine company would, so we have to rely on the continuing
interest of the readership if they notice a "lapse" in their
subscription.
