Actually, that's not true. If you're using a mail program such as Eudora,
all you have to do is change the "personal information" under "settings"
which is under the "special" menu header. It allows you to change both your
name/nickname, your e-mail address, and the return e-mail address you would
like to use. Netscape offers the same options. For example, I could change
the information in my setup so that it looked like this message was sent by
"AmericanMaid at the.city.org".
All of those SPAMs that have been showing up here this past week have been
using that feature, as well. "ReplyBy at mail.com" is the most noticable fake.
The other senders don't exist under the names on their "reply to" message
While I doubt anyone has been getting into Mr. Sederholm's account just to
send messages, it's considered wise to change your password frequently to be
certain this doesn't happen. (A good alphanumeric mix is best; a tech
spcialist at work recommends replacing some letters with numbers, ex: R16b0N
- "ribbon". Still easy to remember, but harder to crack.)
