We recently discussed this at the Kresge Course with Linda Hood and Chuck
Berlin. They are finding an increasing occurrence of these types of cases
and are known as Auditory Neuropathies. These patients usually have a neural
disease and because of the normal hair cell function, are not good candidates
for hearing aids.
Your referral to a neurologist is justified.
