It's a moot point in NJ. With the pathetic history of the make-up of the
hearing aid committee, what difference does it make if they deem it
"illegal" to use the term doctor. People have been calling hearing aid
dealers "doctor" for years and the committee just looks the other way. But
let an audiologist forget to use the term "supervising hearing aid
dispenser" in their advertising and the complaint letters fly - not from
the public but from the paranoid dispensers who have traditionally made up
most of the complaints filed. It's a disgusting situation that has not
gotten any better with the addition of bureaucratic"turf-protecting"
audiologists to the committee. It's political corruption at the expense
of the public.
