Given the growth of information and the rate of discoveries, proof of
CEU's should continue. We have enough trouble obtaining recognition as a
profession deserving fair reimbursement without running a lottery to
discover what percentage of members in a state might be lagging in CEUs.
Think of what national news it would make to discover that in your state
10 or 20% of the profession were able to renew a license without having
accomplished the CEUs. What would happen to insurance if 10% of the
members were not current, but lied about it. A random audit system will
work only if the state imposes very harsh penalties for failing to obtain
CEUs in order to deter cheaters.
