Flying and pain in my ears

your eustachian tubes (the great equalizers) may not be working properly to 
relieve the pressure in your ears.  have you tried yawning and moving your jaw 
at the same time?  that's a trick that sometimes work.  there are other 
techniques that others will share with you, i'm sure.
