The Department of Molecular Biosciences at the University of Texas at Austin is looking for post-doctoral fellows (up to 3) to work on a new collaborative plant synthetic biology project to produce useful, living biomaterials from non-model/non-crop plants. A Ph.D. in plant molecular biology, cell biology, synthetic biology or a related field is necessary. Experience in synthetic biology, design of synthetic genes and gene circuits, and experience with transgenic plants are desirable; however, strong candidates without experience in these areas may also be considered. This is a clustering hire by 3 PIs (Dr. Hong Qiao, Dr. Alan Lloyd, and Dr. Sibum Sung).

This project is a collaborative effort involving 5 PIs, therefore effective communication and team work skills are necessary. Questions regarding this position should be directed to Dr. Sibum Sung. Work is expected to start in September 2018. Interested individuals should send a letter of interest, a current CV and names and contact information of three professional references to Dr. Sibum Sung sbsung from austin.utexas.edu<mailto:sbsung from austin.utexas.edu> .
