Dear Dorian,

Growing plants under (sub)optimal conditions is not always easy, and under
extreme conditions it is even more of a challenge! Here you can find links
to 2 freely available papers that summarise expert knowledge on the
technical/physical/ecophysiological aspects of applying a-biotic stress
treatments to plants:
- http://www.publish.csiro.au/?paper=FP12028 (on growth conditions)
- http://www.publish.csiro.au/?paper=FP12049 (on pot size).

If you want to use a growth room or glasshouse with the aim to make
conditions relevant to what Arabidopsis experiences in the field, check out
for a Tansley review in one of the upcoming New Phytologist issues:
"Pampered inside, pestered outside? Differences and similarities between
plants growing in controlled conditions and in the field.

Success!
