Dear Arabidopsis Community-
NAASC (North American Arabidopsis Steering Committee) has secured funds from the National Science Foundation to enable US (citizens and permanent residents) to attend the ICAR 2016 in GyeonJu, Korea. June 29-July 3, 2016.
Application Deadline (including receipt of ALL supporting documentation) is Saturday March 5 2016 by midnight Pacific Standard Time.
There are two categories of funding opportunities for US scientists/students (please download the document at these public google doc URL)
(1) US ECR- US Early Career Researcher Partial Travel Award (up to 10 awards will be given.) Reimbursement of up to $1,000 USD for conference costs (note this covers only a portion of the total meeting cost. Applicants are expected to provide the remainder of conference costs.)
Eligible: US citizens or US permanent residents that are Graduate Students, Postdocs, Asst Profs. Within 2 years of first faculty appointment*:
(2) US URM-Under Represented Minority in US Science Full Funding Award (up to 7 awards will be given.) Full conference funding (registration, economy travel, lodging. Budget maximum is pre-set and will be conveyed to selected awardees.)
URM definition for purpose of this application:Native Americans (American Indians and Alaskan Natives), African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans (of Central or South American descent), and Native Pacific Islanders) that are US citizens or permanent residents and Grad students, postdocs and Profs. Also professors that teach at HBCUs/1890 Institutions even if they are not URMs themselves*.
