PostDoc fellowship in Plant Mitochondrial Biology

INRA, Versailles, France

Institut Jean-Pierre Bourgin 78026 Versailles cedex France

A two-year post-doc position is immediately available in my group to
investigate the functioning of the mitochondrial translation machinery
in plants. Mitochondria are vital organelles in eukaryotes that are
responsible for the energy production through aerobic respiration. Over
the last years, significant progresses in understanding some aspects of
gene expression in plant mitochondria have been made but translation,
the last level of mRNA expression, has remained largely unexplored. It
is nevertheless clear that despite of its prokaryotic origin, the
mitochondrial translation machinery differs from its bacterial
counterpart in many fundamental aspects. The recruited candidate will
first explore the functional dynamics of mitochondrial translation to
better understand its role in the phenotypic plasticity of plants. The
function of nuclear-encoded trans-factors involved in the control of
mitochondrial translation initiation will be also addressed.

Candidate will work at the Versailles Center of the National Institute
for Agronomical Research (INRA), which possesses state-of-the-art
research equipments, and facilities devoted to post-genomic
technologies, including cell imaging, functional proteomics, transgenic
plants etc…

Candidates with strong background in biochemistry/molecular biology and
related research experience are especially encouraged to apply.
Extensive experience with RNA work and in the analysis of NGS data will
be an advantage. Salary will be commensurate with experience. To apply,
send resume and a cover letter describing your interests, as well as
names and contact information of at least two references to
